Lots of smiles, must be coming home!
Looks like a comfortable ride. Flew across the US many times in the web seats of a C-121 Super Connie in preparation for the Vietnam cruise in 1966.

I just remember being hungry and ccccccooooold!!!! They passed out a brown sack lunch to us all, a pint of milk, bologna and cheese sandwich, and a bag of chips. Made our MRE's look like a feast.
Great photo Russ, thanks for posting.

Great picture, Great caption and, a wonderful reminder.
Freshly made sandwiches? Chips? Fresh fruit?
Try K ration tins left over from WWll, on an old and cold KC 97 headed in to Cambodia.

When I was sent home from Vietnam, it was during the airline strike in 1966. The military leased civilian planes- including their crew- to fly men back from Clark AFB in the Philippines to Treasure Island in San Francisco. What a treat that was! Real seats, female flight attendants and real honest to goodness milk- no that warm reconstituted, brown stuff served on-board the aircraft carrier.

You guys were spoiled - my last ride was in a C-119 with cargo seats - talk about noisy - we couldn't even talk back there - sleep? forget it - meals? a candy bar when we had to land for refueling.

1971, Utapao Thailand to Travis AFB on World Airways with REAL milk. What a treat. We had stewards, not stewardesses.

Just want to say thank you to all of you for your trip, (in a can of WHOOP ASS). It is because of veterans like you, that we have all the freedoms we are all so fond of.
Thanks again
