I got back this morning from a lumber run up to a good friends ranch/business. He is a master at architectural mill works, doors, windows and big rustic furnishings. He had some leftovers that he had me come haul away, and I don't mind these leftovers at all!!! A big stack of cedar, some nice Eucalyptus slabs and some 5/4 Madrone. Well, since my cabinets I built for the college are finally out of my shop, and I needed to move all this lumber in, I felt now was a good time to clean the ol shop and then I was thinking, well I don't have it this clean very often so I might as well shoot a video of it to show the gang at The Patriot Woodworker what I work in when I do work. I hope you all like it, it's hokey, but it was fun. I'd like to thank Kari Hultman of The Village Carpenter for inspiring me to do this with her video of her shop tour. I just absolutely loved that video. Ours is not as refined as hers, but she has more experience at this then we do. So hang in there! And thanks for looking!

John,
Very nice looking shop

Very nice John! If your like me while you cleaned you found things you had looked for at an earlier time and either gave up or bought another one. I think I own 5 stud finders.

Thanks Larry. It's small, modest, and simple. I kind of made this lil movie as a self deprecation shot of the shop I have. If you go to other larger woodworking forums and see the shops of the guys that run those outfits they have a 1000sft shop with spotless paneled walls and shiny machinery and tools that sponsors sent them to review (an unbiased review?) and it is all just too perfect. So I spoofed on that with my own lil corner of the world video showing my hokey clamping station (the beam of my garage and clamps hanging in other locations) not too mention my shop is part of a three car garage that I share with my wife and our family belongings. My work bench/assembly bench/Christmas present wrapping station/fix the lawnmower station/a surface for my kids to draw their artwork on and whatever you can think of happens on that bench! My steel cabinet I scavenged from the county landfill that my Dewalt planer is sitting on, the overarm guard that I bought off of ebay broken but cheap that I was able to repair and use. I have all kinds of stuff like that going on all over that lil shop. It is a spoof video, I am glad you guys like it!

Your shop looked pretty good when I was there awhile back but it is definitely less cluttered now. It looks like you got a truck full of treasures with what little I could see of the wood. That cedar will be nice to make stuff with.

No fair cleaning up before the video!!
Nice shop and great video. Makes me want to pull down the old mandolin off of the wall and start picking again.

You need to come tour my shop. It's not the most serious woodshop in the world, but I enjoy the time I spend in it.

What a wonderful tour of your shop. Am truly envious of the collection of planes and clamps. Also like all the jigs. You must enjoy your shop tremendously.
Thanks for sharing.

Russ, I do enjoy it when I can get in there and do some work I love to do. Lately I've been submerged in ply and screws for some lockers I was building. I am not complaining, it's work, but when I can get into a rocker or something custom I love the shop. Thanks Russ for looking.

John, nice job on the video tour of your shop. It is way too clean and neat. You don't have that much walking around room in my shop.
Nice job on the video too.
