I hope you got your valentine a nice gift and had a great time this past week. But here we are on another Friday and for some a long three day weekend. Plenty of time to work in some shop time, home improvement, and maybe a few HDL items.
I finished up four cutting boards last night as I get ready for the craft season to start. I also have cedar chest on my bench to finish the new skirt around the bottom. I think I am going to have to sand this whole chest down and put a new finish on it. I don't think I am going to be able to match what was there.
I picked up a 1/2" piece of plywood and I hope to get the templates and patterns for the knock down rocker from Allen cut out this weekend.
Also got a few new pen kits in and will try to get a few pen turned.
I also got out some cherry this week and will try to get some challenge coin holders made. If you haven't made any yet and you are looking for a project to work on this long weekend, check out John's instructions on the challenge coin holders and see if you can turn out a few of those.
So there are some projects for me and an idea for you to work on.
What are you doing this weekend in the shop, house, or yard?
Show us your projects as you are working on them and when you get them finished.

I will tell you is "NOT" on my workbench and that is the 5 large (43"x43"x1") frames that I made for church!

I got the last coat of finish sprayed on them on Wednesday and delivered them today along with the mounting hardware. They will be hanging those on Monday.
I still have to finish up the 5 smaller (36"x26") frames to spray the top coat on, but I had to get the large frames out first. They already have the seal coat of shellac on them and just need a light sand and then spray the polycrylic.

Hi John, Well I can't do anything for a valentine I don't have but that's ok, it just means that more money is spent on me and the cat lol. As for what i am doing this weekend, i will be finishing up a bowl that Susie sent my way, Thank you Susie for that. If I still have time after that, i will be making a few pens and maybe work on an idea that I came up with for a round picture frame out of Birdseye maple
The Bowl- Maple I believe, correct me if I am wrong Susie.
The Picture Frame (if i figure out how to put removable plexiglass in it. Any ideas on that are appreciated)
I was going to make pen blanks out of this, thus the horizontal lines but decided not to. If it doesn't work as a picture frame it will wind up as a small bowl. This piece is about 4"x1"
Thanks for reading. have a great weekend.

I have to make up a Chevy truck business card holder. Customer wants it delivered on Tuesday. I want to finish the maple laminated bowl I have on the lathe which has the 1/4 inch walnut between the bowl layers. It just needs some more sanding so plan to work on that first. Need to get some more bowls cut out and glued up so I can turn them.
Yippee it's the weekend!!!!

Happiness is wood chips flying!

Just got a order for a Slimline pen in Cocobolo, so the bowl is now on hold until that is made.

Story of my life! Day late and a dollar short!

Finished the router lift and now it's on to the Challenge Coin Holders and a podium for my brother-in-law's church. Rolling pin blanks are waiting to be turned, too.

A busy bunch. Glad to hear you all have things to work on in the shop.
I spend the day turning up my table saw. After I changed the belts I forgot to align the table top to the blade so before I could get started this morning on any projects I got into the turning. Got the miter slots aligned with the blade and the fence adjusted to the slots. Stop and picked up a new freud blade today so the saw was finally ready to go. I got one cutting board glued up today and three more cut out, planed and ready to glue and clamp. I didn't get as far as I wanted but I am happy with the table saw tune up. It really cut good today. I think it has been needing all of this attention.
Stopped by my wood warehouse and picked up a nice piece of Cherry to make some coin displays with so maybe I can but those out tomorrow afternoon. I also picked up a cherry board to cut the rings out for a board bowl. I am really wanting to get that cut tomorrow. Who knows.
