Fixing computers, just gave up scuba diving after over 30 years.

Hey Ken, where in the heck do you hunt in Bakersfield CA! Just kidding, but I am curious. I didn't know we have much hunting available in California period. I know around my neck of the woods we have duck, quail, and pheasant. Are you hunting larger game?
Thanks for joining up with us Ken.

Hardware mostly. No programming. Held a CCNA while I was teaching but let it lapse when I retired.

John....It depends on what I want to hunt as to where I go. ALL of the hunting I do is in California. I cant afford to hunt out of state. For deer its usually in the Tehachapi mountains or in the San Luis Obispo area. Wild pig is the same. Antelope is in the extreme north east corner of California but its hard to get drawn for those areas. I dont hunt waterfowl.
The Tehachapi area is pretty good for deer as is the Lake Isabella area. Both are within an hour of here. Deer season opens Sept 24th and already have it on the calendar and vacation time for the whole weekend

Well Ken
All of what you mentined was a passion of mine. Now it is helping other people that are hurting and need emotional healing. I would not say it is a hobby but my passion.
I started a club called Loving Hands Memory Boxes. I have discussed it on another web Forum here http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Boar...= you have to read the whole thing to get the jist of it.
The Vets started helping me out by giving me hand tools which I have enough of.
I also just 2 weeks ago started
http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Numb...=
I even had some Vets from LumberJocks give me a hand it getting my garage up and going -
http://lumberjocks.com/patron/blog/24028 All of this has started in the last 9 months when I started getting better. I still have Dr visits 2 times a week, but I can not sit still for long.
I figure since I can not serve the people of my country in the Military, I could serve them in this way.
It is better to give you links so I do not have to type so much and it would take me a week to do it all.
All the Best to my fellow Brothers and Sisters in the Services

Ken, That is just an awesome rig. I do not think the VA would buy me that just to go hunting or fishing. They did buy me 7K worth of woodworking equipment to build boxes for parents that had a Stillborn or SIDS child, but that would be awesome to have even going around my 100 acres.

Been busy getting the ammo reloaded the past week. Heading out next friday, deer season opens Sat morn. I plan on being on the hunt at sunrise the 24th

Ken
I have deer, turkeys, rabbits, squirrls, raccones, and other critters in my yard almost everyday.
Arlin

I have started hand loading due to the cost of ammunition. A box of 20 in 7mm premium ammo in non lead will run $55-60. That a little steep. But the ammo manufacturers have ya by the tail as the majority of Cali in a lead free zone.
Yesterday I went to the range with 50 hand loads in the box. I am trying a new powder and bullet combination for this upcoming deer season. I set the target at 100 yds and got the chronograph set up and the final 10 rounds produced a decent group. I was getting a little sore and jumpy at the end but I can live with the results. 3029 fps and 9 of 10 shots in the 10 ring, the 10th shot was a faulty primer.
