I think its awesome that there are so many carpenters who woodwork as well. I framed for 13 years and it led to my love of wood and making fine furniture. Whoever did that sill, which is among the first few steps of framing a house, didnt have a clue. Who was running the show didnt either. I think dragon hit it on the head with his list and someone should (PLEASE!) call the inspectors office.

Good Morning John,

You are correct that the one vent at the end of the foundation run is wrong for all foundation walls must interlock into the laying of the foundation. The use of 1x plates is also not an accepted part of the framing of said house or structure.

However this is used were there no building departments in a local and the contractor can get away with most anything that usually would be in violation of said codes. It never ceases to amaze me how some contractors will cut corners in order to add a little more to his pocket using these tactics.

Let's hope the building inspector will square these fellas out. Another good example of why contractor bonds are required.
