Sue's woodworking Shop is in her garage. like a lot of others.
I volunteered to help her with a layout to improve how her Shop is arranged. Using the garage's interior size, location of the ingress door and the overhead garage door locations, here is the start of the project.
Below is an image of the Shop's interior size. She will provide all the equipment sizes soon, then we can go ahead and start the layout.
After I get the remailing details, we'll start to have fun! Kinda like a "Show and Tell.."

Larry, I do love the lathe, but that table saw placement isn't going to work at all that I have tried. Scratch that plan I came up with. Not going to work.

Sue's woodworking seems to be more concentrated on turning large bowls. This table saw location is what she wants..
Mayebe she will respond to your good concern..

It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.
Larry,
I'm not ignoring you. Have been busy making some changes in the shop. Have incorporated many of your ideas. Will try and post floor plan tonight to give you some idea of the changes. Might even throw in a few pictures.

Looks like you should move the stuff in the center of the shop a little to the right, so you can have the room you need when you roll out the planer to do long boards.. Also, make sure you have ample room to move around. Some of your templates look pretty close together. ie: Space between air cleaner and your lathe.
Please study my last layout, and read the reasons. I can't see all the details you can. Keep an open mind, then use whatever layout that works for you.
Larry.
Thanks Larry, for the suggestions. We did move the table saw and the out feed work bench to the center. I agree, the row of equipment on the east wall is a bit tight. Thinking I am going to have to move the smallest spindle sander over to the end of the outfeed table connected to the table saw. Am going to go back and study your third plan and see what else might work better. It's not quite done, but getting closer.

Larry,
I have moved the smaller spindle sander over to the end of the workbench we use for the out feed for the table saw. So it has made more room on the east wall for all the equipment. Used the lathe yesterday and there is plenty of room to work. I have appreciated all your comments, advice, and layouts you created. Husband likes this layout and it's much roomier than before. You have been a HUGE help. Shop is much more functional now.

You are most certainly welcome. It was a fun project, and your objective attitude about the progress made it all happen.
Like I told you I was going to, I wrote a Blog about your Shop re-layout project with some extra how-to information.
