Mike,
I headed over to your site. First, I am using Google Chrome v16 with NotScripts and a 512K connection. After unblocking a couple of scripts- FoxyCarts and Google Analytics- I still could not get what appears to be a slide show to open- waited several minutes. I realize I had nothing cached but even after 15 minutes nothing has come down. Also, what appear to be links, on the home page, for your products (Tables, Chairs, Bookshelves, etc) do not function.
All of this could be a function of Google Chrome- I've had it not work correctly on some site. However, as its' popularity grows, web site builders will need to accommodate those users.
I am not a big fan of Home pages that automatically display video, animation and slide shows. These usually take some time to load and for me anything over 15-30 seconds and I'm moving on.
The purchase/shopping cart is fast and simple to use.
Your wood prices seem in line with what I pay locally at the planning mill and the stuff I get is rough- no planning. Nice photos of your stuff, too.
Just my 2¢

I too had trouble with the slideshow on the main page I went to the wood purchasing area and played wth he lumber sizes and that seemed to work well. As for trying to purchase anything at the moment, I can't. but at least the lumber size changes with hte slider bars as well as the price.

This website is new so it doesn't have much to it yet but you are welcome to take a look :)

Michael, I will ditto the others on the slide show. It never came up on my machine either.
I assume the lumber is all planned and jointed edges? I purchase all of my lumber straight from the mill in the rough.

Slide show never loaded.
I buy S2S with one edge straight red oak for $3.50 per BF in 100 BF quantities.

As with the others, no slide show on my computer (firefox)
My main thing is, when I order things, I want to know where the person is located and a contact # so if needed I can call for more info, problems etc.
The site itself looks good.
Best of luck to you!

thanks guys,
the opening slide show, was on the chopping block so to speak,
as for not being able to order that is because this is a test site. the shopping cart is up but will not be tied to a gateway for a few days. and yea the lumber is fully surfaced. my goal is not to compete with guys who buy in large bulk of rough milled, or second grade lumber, but to supply a zero waste product to people who work in smaller volumes. and if you had plans for virtually anything you could order the wood you need and not a scrap more.. I will be suggesting that if you are joining it to leave a bit extra so you can it again before you glue it up.
I will be adding the option to select thicker stock, and custom thickness later. but I need get some lumber moving and let it grow.
thanks for the imput on the firefox issue, I run a mac, with safari but I will be looking into getting it changed before it goes live. and I will do something with the slide show. that is a tricky thing because people with really fast connections love that kind of thing, and deem it a necessary component almost, however people with normal speed connections do not. even if the browser supports it, it does use up the transfer and slow things down. and I just checked it and t the slide show thing is not working, even on my computer so there is something wrong, Im gonna get rid of it anyway though

my site is up and running fully functional.

Just tried it again and the slide show still appears to be trying to load. Left it run for about an hour and still nothing but a black "box". W7 64 bit, MSE, Chrome V 17 with NotScripts (turned off for your site).

Michael,
I just tried your site, and no slide show. I couldn't access any of the function tabs either.
I'm running AMD Phenum II Quad core 2.2 gig processor, 8 gig ram, Vista 64 bit, IE8, and have a fast enough broadband connection for watching Hulu etc. without having buffer over runs. This is the slow computer.
I'll check it with the other computer tomorrow. Asus M3N-HT, AMD Phenum II Quad core 3.0 gig black edition processor, 8 gig ram, Nvidea 9800 GX2 video card, W7 64bit, IE9.
Oh yeah it's Tweaked.

its not the test.woodstowoods.com
that was just a prerun
its now woodstowoods.com the slide show is gone,
I got the lumber side up, as is the all the sales support.
the tabs on the bottom will be changed in the next day, they are locked out but will be filled with things built by craftsmen here and elsewhere. my goal is to have a place where guys can market stuff they make from the lumber I produce, to give my customers the option of buying a great product with a great impact on our local economy, as well as a very limited impact on the environment. our lumber is painstakingly taken from yard trees, and dried in in a very advanced solar kiln. by making most of the cuts here we can utilize the scraps and try to get more use out of this resource. and hopefully help curb cost by eliminating time on the builders end as well as the need to buy lumber they do not need. in my research I have found about A 30% in excess material needed to complete a project. with this way of doing it, the only thing builders should be throwing out is what ever they cut out for shaping, and joining, and a bit for sanding.
Michael,
My bad! I tried going to the test site by just clicking the link in your original post.
The new site is working as you stated.
You should be able to edit the original post so others don't make the same mistake that I did.
