Roof Sheathing Temperature without Radiant Barrier

In the middle of a sunny day, my roof sheathing was getting to over 115 deg., which re-radiates to the rest of my shop. Right when you walk in you feel the blasting heat. By installing radiant barriers, especially at the roof, I've lowered the…

Measuring Tapes with Norm Abram Signature

Profile Information

Please tell us about yourself.
I’m a woodworker in CA who is lucky enough to own a 3-car garage woodshop. I've been woodworking since college (engineering), got addicted to the New Yankee Workshop, and it exploded from there. Now, I'm focusing on my woodshop design and making stuff whenever I get the chance. I "sneak" niches in time to be in the shop.
Please describe your main woodworking interests.
I've had the creative bug since I was a kid, wanting glue and popsicle sticks over "pre-made" toys. When I learned more about the world of woodworking I started buying the tools I needed to make what I imagined into actual objects.

Good Morning Bobby,
I am pleased that you liked my tutorials for they are the ones I used when I was teaching Vocational Carpentry and the apprenticeship program.
In regard to the radial arm saws I am against them unless they have the retainer spring attached to hold the saw back till you pull it across the lumber. The reason being that I saw a man cut his hand off because he did not shut the saw off and was placing wood on the table and the saw drifted down and when it caught the wood it ran across the wood while cutting his hand off in one quick instant.

I don't, nor won't have one in my shop due to that very reason. Even while running my table saw with out the guard on, I shut the saw off after each pass till I am ready to run another piece through. Around equipment like that one can never be too safety minded.
When not being used the saw blade is cranked down below the table top.
