Profile Information

Please tell us about yourself.
I retired from the L.A. County sheriff's Department about 3 years ago, and was always interested in wood working. I wanted to move back east and build a cabin out of the wood already on my property. With that goal being a few years away, I started looking into cutting wood here in So. California. I purchased a Timberking 1600 mill and haven't looked back. I stay a busy as I need to be, and really have enjoyed cutting all types of wood. We recently purchased another mill in West Virginia and will be milling back there is July. Breaking ground on our new house.
Please describe your main woodworking interests.
I enjoy the ability to make just about anything out of wood possible. I don't have a great deal of creativity, so working with wood with different types of grain and shape brings out what some different abilities of mine. It is really enjoyable to take a log and make some real beautiful wood out of it...

Hello Brent,
Yes, I do have the 718, however I have dedicated it to gang ripping wood and making trim as I have a Jet 15" planer that is the workhorse of the shop. For small stuff I use my DeWalt 12 1/2" planer and now I have the 38" drum sander from Woodmaster and I hope I get in enough work to pay for it. I am pleased with the way it works and the reversing mechanism works great too.
Between running trim and planing wood down, I hardly get the chance to work on projects that I like to do but money is money. As long as I can keep it coming in makes all the difference in the world. For the economy being what it is in I am blessed with plenty of work.

Good Morning Brent,
Welcome to the American Woodworker forums and I too, sell hardwood lumber as well as to mill it for my clients and I have Woodmaster tools to help me in procesing wood from rough sawn to finished trim for homes. I also do a lot of cuatom woodworking along with building Arts and Crafts Furniture.

I hope you will continue coming to these forums and showing the nice quality of lumber you have.

Respectfully,

Ralph
