Profile Information

Please tell us about yourself.
I am married and have four kids, and we currently live in Chicago IL, where I was born and raised. When I was 23 I enlisted in the Air Force, where I spent 9 years as a Chinese Linguist and Intelligence Analyst. About five years ago I became interested in woodworking and started making small boxes in my carport while living in Monterey CA.

From there my interest grew and I began making furniture. I have made several tables, beds for my daughters, boxes, toys, crossbows (yes, crossbows!), knives, and many other items that catch my fancy.

I was medically retired from active duty in July of 2009 due to a a Kidney Condition. My family and I have moved back to Chicago and I am planning to start my own legal practice in the near future. In the meantime, I am happily working out in my workshop, trying to make a little extra money doing something I love. I'd love to just woodwork fulltime, but with a wife and four kids to feed, that probably isn't going to happen!
Please describe your main woodworking interests.
I love the natural beauty of wood and anything made from wood. I also very much enjoy taking transforming a raw piece of lumber into something beautiful and functional. My workshop is my church!
